Ford has been tucking away Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick awards in 2011 like mad. So far this year they have earned 10 of the awards. The Ford Edge is the latest to join the list.

To earn the award, a vehicle must receive the top rating of “Good” for offset frontal, side, and rear impact crash tests. As well as roof strength evaluations and must offer electronic stability control. The award should continue to fuel the hot sales of the Edge through the remainder of the year. Ford And Lincoln Mid-Size Crossovers Earn Top Safety Pick

The Ford Edge and the Lincoln MKX were both recently awarded the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) Top Safety Pick in their category.

In order to win the Top Safety Pick award from the IIHS a vehicle must earn the rating of Good for front, side, and rear impact as well as rollover strength. The vehicle must be equipped with electronic stability control as well. Both vehicles are able to withstand in excess of four times their weight on a roof crushing test.  With such outstanding safety features, these two crossovers are prime candidates for new auto loans.  In fact, Ford and Lincoln both have several models that have earned the IIHS Top Safety Pick award this year.
