Familiar Name Tops In Safety

Volvo S60 Safety

Volvo is a name that has long been synonymous with safety. This year is no different. The 2011-12 Volvo S60 received ‘Top Safety Pick’ cudos in the midsize luxury/near-luxury category from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Requirements for the ‘Top Safety Pick’ award include receiving the top rating of Good in front, side, rear and rollover crash tests and having electronic stability control. Tests on the S60 demonstrate a low risk of significant injury in a 40-mph frontal-offset crash, well controlled head movement during a crash, and that during a side-impact the driver’s and rear passenger’s heads were protected from a 3,300 lbs deformable barrier traveling at 31 mph.

The ‘Top Safety Pick’  is not a stranger to Volvo. Four other models received the same award in different categories. What else needs to be said about Volvo quality?  Check here for Volvo S60 lease deals – and know you’re in one of the safest cars on the road.
